Driver Sped Away After Crashing Into Pedestrian In Alexandria: Police

The Fairfax County police are searching for the driver who ran over a pedestrian Wednesday night, July 6, and then drove off. 

Police closed the intersection of Route 1 and Huntington Ave in Alexandria for several hours Thursday morning after a car hit and pedestrian and drove off.

The wreck happened late Wednesday on Route 1 and Huntington Avenue in Alexandria. Police closed that intersection for several hours as they investigated the scene. They reopened that section of road around 3 a.m. 

Police haven't released many details, but the car sped away after crashing into a pedestrian. Paramedics took them to a hospital for treatment, where they spent the night, Fairfax County police tweeted. 

Police have not released any information on the pedestrian's condition.
